Moirang, Kak, Karong Assembly Constituencies to see straight fight
279 in fray for 60 seats after withdrawal

Imphal, January 14, 2012:
Following withdrawal of nomination papers by 11 candidates today, altogether 279 candidates have been left to fight for the sixty Legislative Assembly seats.
A total of 299 candidates submitted their nomination papers but ten candidates were rejected during scrutiny.
With eight candidates each Keirao AC and Kshetrigao AC have the highest number of contenders while three Constituencies �� Moirang, Kakching and Karong would witness straight fights.
In Moirang, it would be a one to one fight between Congress candidate M Prithviraj and NCP nominee P Saratchandra while CPI�s Naorem Achouba would battle with Congress candidate Yengkhom Surchandra in Kakching AC.
Karong AC would also see a straight fight between INC�s DD Thaisii and NPF�s Dr VAlexander Pou.
The candidates who withdrew their nomination papers are Leitam Ingocha Singh of MSCP (Lamlai AC), independent candidate Kongkham Tomba (Mayang Imphal), Dr Md Maniruddin Shaikh of NCP (Lilong),independent candidate independent candidate Asraf Hussain (Lilong), Thingujam Jayenta of MSCP (Wabagai), independent candidate Keishing Somi (Phungyar), independent candidate RS Turner Shimra (Ukhrul), NK Mangcha Haokip of MSCP (Saikul), independent candidate Hmangkhum Joute (Tipaimukh), Helianthang Thanglet of MSCP (Singhat) and independent candidate Thianching (Singhat).
