Imphal, October 10 2020:
Opposition Congress party has claimed that the upcoming by-election to five Assembly segments would certainly expose the people's aversion to the BJP-led coalition Government.
Speaking at a one-day Kisan Sammelan held today at Congress Bhavan here, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president M Okendro said that many people have expressed intense dislike of the BJP-led coalition Government's repressive governance.
A clear picture of the people's growing aversion to the coalition Government would be reflected in the by-election scheduled on November 7, he said.
The way the BJP-led Government tabled three Farm Bills in the Parliament without consulting farmers and any other stakeholder, and got them passed by voice vote on June 5 was something highly unacceptable.

People across the country would suffer more and more until the Government gives up the attitude of bulldozing its way forcibly, said the MPCC president.
Congress party has been protesting against all such arbitrary and totalitarian attitude of the BJP-led Government.
But the BJP-led Government has been indulging in a tactic of intimidation and oppression by imprisoning citizens under NSA who dared to speak against their misplaced policies, Okendro said.
Conveniently overlooking the fact that they are public leaders, BJP Ministers and MLAs have been making all kinds of statements at public functions without thinking about the propriety of their statements because they have been incited by BJP leaders to unleash a form of totalitarian governance, he said.
He then exuded confidence that Congress party would come back to power after the Assembly election of 2022 if the party's new team work hard collectively with a single mind.
Okendro then appealed to the gathering to work collectively to bring peace and prosperity to the State by consulting farmers and the public.
Kisan Congress chairman Thoiba warned that big companies would now take total control of all agricultural produces.
Once these companies take control of agricultural produces and markets, farmers would be given lower prices for their produces.
The three Farm Bills would prove highly detrimental to the interest of farmers while they would immensely benefit corporates and middle class, Thoiba said.
