A discussion programme on the topic "How Overseas Manipuris can contribute to Socio-Economic Development of Manipur via Knowledge Exchange Networks (KEN)" was held today at State Guest House, Sanjenthong.
Among others, the programme was attended by Commerce and Industry and Sericulture Principal Secretary O Nabakishore Singh, ISBD Director Talukdar, Commerce and Industry Director Tolthang, Dean CAU Prof N Iboton and Science and Technology Director Uttamchan Laishram.
UK-based Shanjoy Mairenbam made a presentation on the topic "How Overseas Manipuris can contribute to Socio-Economic Development of Manipur via Knowledge Exchange Networks (KEN)" .
Shanjoy said that many overseas Manipuris are willing to contribute their mite for the socio-economic development of the State and the people.
In his power point presentation, Shanjoy said "We can develop the economic status of Manipur by helping each other and by changing the mind-set of the people.
"Now we can do everything which other States can do.
We can do overseas business through internet, and can develop the economic status of the State", he said.
He opined that Manipur can export the chilly variety of U-Morok.
Prof Iboton stated that Manipur has good export potential for such produces as turmeric, orange, pineapple etc.
The discussion programme concluded with an interaction session.
