Union Ministry of External Affairs is all set for taking up the issue of introducing bus service between Imphal and Mandalay with President of Myanmar Thein Sien during the latter's scheduled visit to New Delhi in the current month itself.
According to a top official of the State Government, the Ministry has made all necessary preparations for discussion over the issue of introduction of bus service between Imphal and Mandalay with the President of Myanmar who is scheduled to visit New Delhi later this month.
The Union Home Ministry, Ministry of Transport and External Affairs Ministry have already agreed in-principle on the proposal of introducing bus service between Imphal and Mandalay and the issue related to visas is being worked out, the source said.
On its part, the Government of Manipur has already submitted report to the Centre on the details of the check posts that would be required between Imphal and Moreh once the proposed bus service is introduced, the official disclosed.
Ahead of the scheduled visit of Myanmarese President, the Ministry also convened a meeting at New Delhi today to discuss the issue related to construction of the proposed trilateral highway which would pass through Manipur, the official added.
