People of Sadar Hills imposed lightning bandh along Taphou Kuki-Gampiphai road to condemn the death of protesters in police firing yesterday.
A large number of people came out in the streets and burned tyres.
Black flags were also hung all over the market area.
Though inter-State passenger buses, loaded trucks and local passenger vehicles were affected, passage permits were issued at Gamgiphai and Kangpokpi for private vehicles.
All the business establishments, educational institutions were closed.
Government offices also recorded low atten- dance.
Although two autos were damaged in Sadar Hills by bandh supporters, no untoward incident has been reported during the bandh which went on till 5 pm.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh in collaboration with other tribal social bodies of Moreh observed a condolence service as a mark of respect to the tribal Kukis killed in police firing in CCpur district yesterday.
Effigies of State tribal Ministers and MLAs were burnt near the office of SBI, Moreh Branch to demonstrate protest against the passing of the three Bills by the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Endorsing the indefinite general strike imposed by KSO, Ghq and ANSAM, KSO, Moreh said in a statement, "KSO, Moreh in collaboration with all the tribal bodies will firmly stand against the passed Bill till our last breath" .
The statement apprised all the District Council Members residing in Imphal to return to their respective home or else face same action initiated against the State tribal MLAs and Ministers.
Any individual or group who defies KSO, Moreh will be dealt strictly.
