Imphal, June 01 2011:
Members of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SHADC) have strongly condemned the bomb blast at the office complex of ADC, Khuman Lampak on May 28 .
Describing it as a great tragedy, spokesperson of SHADC Thanggoulun Kipgen pointed out that three innocent women of a family became the victims of the bomb blast.
Denouncing the culprits, the spokesperson prayed that such evil act does not occur again and conveyed the consolation of the SHADC members to the victim family.
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Chandel district and Imphal Branch have also strongly condemned the bomb blast that left an innocent mother and her two daughters seriously injured.
In a statement, general secretary of KSO, Imphal branch Seiboi Haokip informed that the injured mother Boinu (48) and her daughters, Lucy (18) and Neikim (10) are currently battling for life at JN Hospital without any assistance from the State Government or any other NGOs.
The indifferent attitude of the Government towards the injured victims is unfortunate because the blast took place on account of the failure of the State Government to ensure security to its citizens, Seiboi Haokip charged, while appealing to the Government to adequately compensate the medical expenses which would be impossible for a poor unfortunate family to afford.
Further negligence of the victims from the side of the Government will compel the student body to take recourse to democratic agitations in the interest of justice, Seiboi Haokip warned, adding categorically that the Government should be held responsible for any untowards incident which may occur during the course of the agitation.
In another statement, president of KSO Chandel district Thangjalet Mate has lamented that no one has claimed responsibility for the blast even though five days have passed since the incident.
This shows that it was an act of cowardice and terrorism perpetrated by some uncivilised people/groups without any valid reasons, Thangjalet Mate said.
After analysing the situation very carefully, we have come to believe that it was not the handiwork of one or two persons but a well established group or organisation.
We also apprehend that it was an attempt on the life of ADC chairman and his staff because they were attending the office at the time of the attack, Thangjalet Mate said, while appealing to all concerned not to repeat such unwanted incidents specially in public places or offices.
Such act of violence would never bring any good to the society.
Rather it would create communal disharmony and enmity among the different tribes.
Moreover, disrupting normal function of ADC, which has been revived after two decades, will hamper developmental activities giving a great setback to the common people, Thangjalet Mate observed.
He also appealed to the authorities concerned to book and punish the culprits as per the law of the land and also looked after the well being of the injured innocent victims.
