Imphal, February 01 2017:
Amidst speculation over the scheduled tripartite talk between United Naga Council (UNC), Government of India and Government of Manipur in Delhi on February 3, Kuki Inpi asserted that the talk must be concentrated on lifting the economic blockade alone to avoid further escalation of social disharmony and break down of law and order in the State.
In an open memorandum to the members of the proposed tripartite talk, Kuki Inpi mentioned that the UNC-sponsored economic blockade caused tremendous hardships to the people including loss of precious human lives during the past three months.
If the talk turns toward the territory of Manipur State, first and foremost the three main communities namely Meitei, Kuki and Naga must be fully and equally represented.
The reasons are specified clearly by Kuki Inpi in the memorandum submitted to the Union Home Minister on June 15, 2006, it stated.
UNC alone, in the context of Manipur State, can never do or say anything about the land inhabited by the three communities without the consent of the major ethnic communities, Kuki Inpi stated in a press release.
