Former Supreme Court Judge Santosh Hegde, Chairman of the Inquiry Commission set up at the instruction of the Supreme Court to probe into some particular cases of alleged extra judicial killings by security forces in Manipur will arrive here tomorrow along with Secretary PS Murti another official.
Hearing of the alleged extra judicial killing cases will start from March 3, informed an official source.
Acting on a PIL filed by the Extra Judicial Execution Victims' Families Manipur, the apex Court set up the Inquiry Commission.
Ahead of starting the hearing, members of the commission JM Lyngdoh, former Chief Election Officer and Ajay Kumar, former DGP of Karnataka will arrive at Imphal on March 2 .
They would be accompanied by three advocates of the commission.
Statements recorded in the course of the hearing scheduled at Classic Hotel would be screened live using a projector.
Of the six particular cases of extra judicial killings taken up for enquiry by the Supreme Court, Assam Rifles/Army were involved in four cases while police commandos were involved in all the cases.
The State Government, as demanded by the commission has already given them FIRs, enquiry reports, post mortem reports and copies of video clippings taken during post mortem pertaining to the six particular cases.
Moreover, a report on the set-up and functioning of the State Police has also been given to the commission which would submit its enquiry report to the Supreme Court within 12 weeks.
Meanwhile, the State Government has made all preparations for the scheduled visit of the commission members, informed the source.
