Imphal, December 29:
Continuing the mudslinging exercise between the two factions of the Apunba Lup, the hard-liner group today termed yesterdays meeting of the co-ordinators of the moderate group with the AFSPA Review Committee as a great betrayal to the cause of the people.
In a statement jointly signed by Ch Premita, Jotin Salam and RK Bhumi, the publicity committee of the hard-liner Apunba Lup faction alleged that yesterdays meeting has given credence to the remark made by Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil on the floor of the Parliament that there are some group of people do are against repealing of the Act.
The three co-ordinators who went to meet the Review Committee in the name of Apunba Lup should understand that the constitution of a Review Committee is only a ploy to divert the attention of the people from the real issue, the statement said, adding that although the co-ordinators failed to see through this, the people of Manipur are well aware of it.
The stand of the Apunba Lup to the proposal for Hawks pin betrayer tag on doves reviewing the Act has already been announced to the people, the statement said, adding that giving lip service to ensure democratic rights of the people is meaningless as long as India Government condoned the atrocities being committed by it own security forces on the people of Manipur.
