Biswajit highlights transportation problems to Nitin Gadkari

Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh today apprised Union Minister (Road, Transport & Highways) Nitin Gadkari about the issues faced in transportation of commodities and implementation of highway development projects in the State due to the ongoing lockdown.
The Union Minister held a video conference this morning with PWD/Transport Ministers of all States and Union Territories to review various issues pertaining to highway/transport sector.
Taking part in the video conference, Biswajit highlighted several issues of the State regarding transportation and movement of commodities.
He asserted that transportation of goods for the State has been going on smoothly in the State under the Chief Minister's leadership.
However, the State is also facing some issues regarding movement of construction materials for highway projects and other non-essential commodities while passing through some neighbouring States, he apprised the Union Minister.
Stating that the Government of Manipur will get in touch with the States concerned on the issue, Biswajit also urged that it would be better if the States concerned receive instruction about the same from the Union Ministry also.
It may be mentioned that during the video conference, Biswajit was assisted by Principal Secretary (Transport) P Vaiphei, Works Commissioner RK Dinesh and other officials of PWD and Transport Department.
Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal held another video conference in the afternoon with Education Ministers of all States/Union Territories.
Pointing out that teaching/learning period would be much shorter this academic session, many States suggested Ramesh Pokhriyal to spare teachers from election and census duties.
The video conference also discussed about digital classes launched by schools and the ongoing evaluation of answer sheets of Class X and Class XII examinations.
