Imphal, November 27 2015 :
The State Cabinet has decided to approach the Governor with an appeal to convene the 12th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly from December 18 to 21 .
A Cabinet meeting held today in the Chief Minister's Secretariat this afternoon with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair adopted a resolution to this effect.
Government spokesman M Okendro reminded that the 11th session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on August 31 and the same session was prorogued by the Governor on November 21 .
The Cabinet meeting decided to upgrade all Government Aided High Schools located in hill districts having Classes IX to X to full fledged Government Schools, and to merge all Government Junior High Schools located nearby to the High Schools.
All the Government Aided High Schools which the State Cabinet decided to upgrade to full fledged High Schools have been receiving grant-in-aid from the Government since 1980 .
These schools are Gorkha High School, Hill Model High School, Laii High School, Makui High School, Mapithel Area High School, Maram High School, Ngari High School, North District High School, Patpuihmun High School, Phaibung High School, Thiwa High School, Tongou School and Valte Khamzathang High School.
Out of these 13 schools, 11 have classes I to VIII and they share common campuses with nearby Government Junior High Schools.
The other two high schools are located close to Government Junior High Schools.
As the aided schools which would be upgraded to the status of full fledged Government High Schools have only four approved posts each, upgrading the schools would not entail any extra expenditure, said Okendro who is also the Education Minister.
All these 13 schools have four approved posts each, three for Graduate Teachers and one for LDC.
Along with adoption of the 13 Aided High Schools, the existing Graduate Teachers and LDCs holding the sanctioned posts would become full time employees of the State Government, he added.
