Co-passengers, family members may be tested for COVID-19

Imphal, March 27 2020:
After a 23-year-old woman who flew from the United Kingdom via Kolkata was found positive for COVID-19 recently, all the family members and those who shared the flight to Imphal may be tested for the virus, said a reliable source in the State Health Department today.
The woman from Imphal West tested positive for novel coronavirus on March 24 and is currently recovering from the disease at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Porompat.
Earlier, her brother had tested negative.
12 members of her family and all those who shared flight with her and are currently quarantined will be tested for the virus, said the source adding at least 200 people are in quarantine at various centres and 486 are in home quarantine.
Meanwhile, a suspected case brought to JNIMS from Thoubal district yesterday has tested negative.
However, the person is being kept in quarantine, said the source.
Altogether 11 samples - eight from Nagaland State and three from Manipur were tested today at JNIMS and all were found to be negative, added the source.
