Uripok protest against the police commandos

Demanding necessary legal action against the police commandos involved in arrest and brutal torture of Sanjenbam Robertker of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai, residents of Uripok area staged a mass protest demonstration today.
Sanjenbam Robertker, who works as a general manager in a Delhi-based private company, had been reportedly arrested by suspected police commandos from inside the campus of RIMS at around 10.30 am on September 18 and after subjecting him to brutal torture was later handed over to Lamphel police station at around 6.64 pm of the same day.
As the health condition of Robertker was very grave when Lamphel police produced him before the court of CJM, Imphal the following day, the court directed that Robertker be admitted in a hospital for necessary treatment.
Consequently, Robertker has been undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.
Mother of Robertker, Borni informed The Sangai Express that her son is yet to regain consciousness and nothing could be fed.
Protesting against the alleged high-handedness and excesses of police commandos, residents of Uripok including a large number of Meira Paibis staged a Wakat Meepham at Uripok Tourangbam Leikai today.
Organised under the joint aegis of Uripok Tourangbam Leikai Women Organisation and Uripok Tourangbam Leikai Welfare Organisation, placards/banners inscribed with slogans like �Dismiss guilty police commandos�, �Give up the habit of arresting innocent civilians and levelling false charges against them�, �Initiate necessary legal action against involved police commandos�, etc, were seen being used during the protest demonstration.
