Imphal, August 24 2016:
Parking of vehicles by shopkeepers and private residents along Thangal Keithel road and MG Avenue has been causing lots of inconveniences to the general public.
All the vehicles parked along Thangal Keithel road and MG Avenue do not belong to shoppers alone.
Many of the vehicles belong to shopkeepers, salesmen and private residents.
Whereas shoppers park their vehicles only for sometime, shopkeepers, salesmen and private residents park their vehicles the whole day.
Employees of banks, Government offices and private offices located within Khwairamband have been parking their vehicles on adjoining roads.
This is known to the authorities concerned but no corrective or remedial measures have been initiated till date.

One Bijaya of Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai expressed keen desire to create parking spaces for shopkeepers and residents of Imphal city in basements.
Pointing out that many new buildings are being constructed within Khwairam- band with due permission of Imphal Municipal Corporation, Bijaya said that the new buildings should have parking spaces in the basements compulsorily.
This can considerably reduce traffic congestion.
The house owners can even charge parking fees.
She also suggested setting a time limit for parking a vehicle at a particular spot.
The erstwhile Usha Cinema Hall had parking space in the basement but no parking space is available now since the cinema hall has been converted into a shopping complex.
Likewise, all other cinema halls had parking spaces in the basements.
But these parking spaces had disappeared after the cinema halls were converted into shopping complexes, Bijaya added.
