Rishang regrets 'messy Manipur'

Ukhrul district Congress Committee celebrated 60 years of Rishang Keishing's political career with a fitting felicitation function hosted for the seasoned politician at the Adimjati complex auditorium of Tribal Research Institute today.
Addressing the gathering, Rishang Keishing, who is the Rajya Sabha MP of Manipur, expressed strong resentment over the manner in which Manipur has been transformed to a land of violence and corruption.
stating that all human beings are indebted to the Almighty, he exhorted every section of the society to contribute their mite for the betterment of mankind.
Describing violence and corruption as the most dominating features of Manipur for the past many years, Rishang pointed out that the society can be saved from such ills if every individual act in a humane manner.

Exuding confidence that the law and order situation can be effectively tackled if every member of the society refrain from wrongdoings, the three-time former Chief Minister also emphasised that promoting peaceful co-existence amongst different communities can be the antidote against intentions and acts of adverse elements.
Referring to Manipur's multi-ethnic society, he opined that presence of such a large number of people with different religious and cultural affinity is itself a blessing from the almighty to foster peaceful co-existence.
Home Minister Gaikhangam, who also attended the event hailed Rishang Keishing for his unstinted endeavour towards overall development of Manipur.
Describing Rishang Keishing as a resilient and committed leader of the masses, he conveyed that every politician should strive to emulate the veteran politician so that the people will continue to have faith on the public leaders.
Among others, Chingai AC MLA Mk Preshow Shimray, Hill Area Committee chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, MLA Manga Vaiphei, former Ministers RK theko and DD Thaisii, and DCC Ukhrul president AS Shimreiyo were also present at the felicitation function.
The event hosts presented a traditional shawl and bouquets to Rishang Keishing.
