A Cabinet meeting of the SPF Government held today with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair has decided to adopt the indigenous fish variety Pengba as State fish besides deliberating on criteria for reservation of seats during recruitment.
According to a senior Cabinet Minister of the SPF coalition, the decision to adopt Pengba as the State Fish has been taken with a view to propagate this endangered fish as well as following proposal from the Fisheries Department to this end.
Along with giving nod on reservation of seats for admission in professional courses as well as in job application for those who are belonging to creamy layer of the society, the Cabinet meeting has also decided to appoint six employees for the National Sports Academy on contract basis.
Apart from the approval given for payment of Rs 1.95 lakhs as the duty allowance of 77 employees of the Directorate of Printing and Stationery for their service during the 14th Lok Sabha election, the Cabinet meeting has also approved promulgation of The Kangla Fort Board Grant-in-Aid Rules, 2007.Though the opinion of the State Government on the issue of Office of Profits to be submitted to the Joint Parliamentary Committee was taken up for discussion, the Cabinet meeting did not arrive at any definite resolution in this regard.
