Run away minor rescued

Imphal, June 20 2016:
Volunteers of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) today handed over a minor girl, who ran away from her employer as a domestic help, to Child Line Imphal.
In a media interaction, joint secretary of AMSU, Yambem Ranjan said that AMSU was informed by secretary of SYDO, Sagolband Moirang Leirak about a minor girl who ran away from her employer taking shelter at his residence.
Later, the child was taken to AMSU for handing her over to Child Line Imphal.
The SYDO secretary told AMSU that the girl, who served as a domestic helper, has been tortured by her employers since 2014 .
The girl ran away from her employer yesterday and took shelter at the SYDO club premises.
Y Ranjan urged all parents not to allow their children to work as domestic helps with the promise of a better future or prospect.
Staff of Child Line said that the girl will be kept at Children Home located at Thangmeiband.
They also urged all concerned to contact them in case they come across any torture on minors.
