Imphal, October 19 2016:
Taking strong exception to the delay in the admission process at Manipur University and the incomprehensible stand of the UGC team deputed to the State, the JAC Against the Implementation of State Reservation Policy in Admission in Manipur University has said that the stand given by the UGC delegate just to save their own skin is unacceptable.
The JAC has also announced a total shut down of MU from tomorrow.
The relay hunger strike has also finished the fourth day today, said the JAC.
Even though the UGC delegate came in connection with an issue of MU, instead of staying at the university, they preferred to stay at a three star hotel, fumed the JAC in a statement and added that this is ample testimony that the UGC cares two hoots about the students of the varsity.
Instead of minutely studying the issue, the UGC delegates merely laid down some points which were not at all coherent, added the JAC.
The UGC's stance is typical of how mainland India has been looking at the smaller communities, said the JAC and added that if the issue takes an uglier turn, the UGC team and MU authority should be held solely responsible.
The JAC also urged the Scheduled Caste and OBC students to extend cooperation and urged them to join the mass total shut down of MU from tomorrow and mass resignation from studentship.
If the urgings of the JAC are not heeded then all should bear their own responsibilities, added the statement.
