Following an official invitation from Prime Minister A B Vajpayee a team of the United Committee, Manipur will be leaving for New Delhi tomorrow to meet the Prime Minister and to apprise the PM of the pressing need to revoke the cease fire extension from the state.
Two prominent Kuki leaders, KIM president Haozakham Chongloi and KIM advisor, Dr T Lunkim have also left for Delhi today following invitations from the prime Minister.
Some Muslim leaders will also leave for Delhi tomorrow at the invitation of the Prime Minster.
The UCM team will be led by its conveners Udoi Thongam, Sapamcha Jadumani and Kh Ratan.
A few days earlier a six member team of UCM had left for Delhi as an advance team.
The team was led by RK Ranendrajit and RK Anand.
The official invitation from the Prime Minister was intimated to the UCM last night inviting the UCM leaders to have an in depth discussion on the current developments accruing fro the decision of the Centre to extend the NSCN(IM) cease fire to Manipur.
The invitation asked the UCM members to contact the PMO by 11 am tomorrow.
Since it would not be possible to contact the PMO by 11 am tomorrow, the UCM has already faxed a message intimating that the meeting intimating that the meeting schedule be changed.
A meeting of the UCM was also held this evening to discuss the upcoming meeting with the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister is expected to meet the UCM team on July 21.The UCM leaders will impress upon the Prime Minister of the immediate need to revoke the cease fire extension before Parliament convenes for the Monsoon session on July 23.Already the State political leaders under the State MPs and MLAs Forum are mobilizing support in Delhi against the truce extension.
A number of political figure and political parties have been positive towards the cause of the State and they had earlier assured all possible co-operation and help to protect the territorial integrity of the State.
