Imphal, November 18 2011:
Of the 27 blood samples taken to National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi for conducting MAC-ELISA Antibody Igm Capture Test, eight samples have been found positive for Dengue.
A source in the State Malaria Office informed that the 27 samples were sent to New Delhi by State Malaria Officer Dr Ibochouba for conducting MAC-ELISA Antibody I gm Capture Test at NCDC.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Dr Ibochouba said that they were informed about the eight samples which had tested Dengue positive.
The NCDC has sent an official report in this regard.
Meanwhile, Dengue test on 91 samples has been started in the accredited laboratory of RIMS from today.
Earlier, efforts of the State Health Department to conduct the same test in RIMS had to be aborted as the machine broke down.
Reports given by RIMS and NCDC New Delhi would be the only authentic reports for the outbreak of Dengue in Churachandpur district.

Even if one is infected by the disease which is caused by Flavi virus, it does not it would be fatal, said Dr Ibochouba.
Although eight samples have been tested positive, there is no report of the severe form of Dengue till date, he asserted.
All the eight people who have been tested positive for Dengue were not hospitalised.
Results of the test being conducted in RIMS would be available in the next couple of days.
If one is infected by Dengue fever, he/she must be given preventive treatment so that Dengue fever does not transform to haemorrhagic fever.
Simple treatments like taking anti-fever drugs, providing medical oxygen when one feels difficulty in breathing, taking anti-headache treatments etc can be advised for patients suffering from Dengue symptoms, said Dr Ibochouba.
In case Dengue fever turns into haemorrhagic fever, there can be internal or external bleeding from any part of the body.
The bleeding is caused by damage done to platelet cells of blood, he explained.
If one is suffering from haemorrhagic fever, there is a need to inject platelet cells into blood.
As such, patients suffering from haemorrhagic fever should be taken to a hospital where there is facility for blood transfusion, he added.
