Two non-locals shot dead in past 24 hours

Two non-Manipuri migrant workers have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in separate incidents since yesterday.
Following the killing of the two, non-Manipuris staying at different locations in the suburban areas of the twin capital districts have been brought to Dharmashala in Thangal Bazar as precautionary measures by the police.
According to a police source, one of the victims was shot dead at around 5 pm in Nagamapal Soram Leirak area yesterday.
Said to be in the early 30s and a mason (tiles) by profession, the victim identified as Upinder Mukhiya s/o Halkhori in Jodhpur village under Bihar's Sitamari district, was rushed to RIMS hospital but succumbed to a bullet on the head.
Upinder was staying at a rented quarter in Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak and was on his way to meet some friends at Soram Leirak, when some unidentified gunmen targeted him.
The other incident took place at around 8.30 am today at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai area, where the victim migrant worker used to stay at a rented quarter.
The victim has been identified as Kamlesh Das (23) s/o Babulal of Sangkhelpur Bakla village under Begusarai district in Bihar.
A bullet on the head killed Kamlesh Das on the spot.
