Altogether four MLAs including Assembly Speaker Dr S Dhananjoy Singh were injured when a rampaging mob attacked the State Assembly premises this noon.
Sources said the Speaker and Thanga MLA H Sanayaima Singh were manhandled by the demonstrators after dragging them out of their official residences.
The irate mob later took the Speaker till the Raj Bhavan where he was let in.
on the way several protesters hurled effigies and other materials to the Speaker who also kept on shouting slogans against the ceasefire.
Sanayaima was kept inside the MLA Hostel at Majorkhul.
The protesters also torched one Gypsy and a motor cycle of the Thanga MLA.
Khurai Assembly constituency MLA Ningthoujam Bihari Singh and Khundrakpam MLA K Tomba Singh received severe burn injuries in the mob rampage during which the State Assembly building was set afire this noon.
Both of them have been evacuated to the RIMS Hospital where treatment is going on.
Some agitators tried to assault the two MLAs even as some others were trying to rescue them.
The mob comprising thousands of people including women and children were protesting the extension of the Indo-Naga ceasefire boundary.
Doctors said that Bihari sustained 70 percent burns while Tomba received 60 percent burn injuries.
Bihari later told to reporter that he himself and MLA Tomba had no way to escape when the fire suddenly broke out.
They then rushed inside the toilet adjacent to the Speaker�s room and turned on the shower to shield off the shearing heat.
However, the shower stopped and they then decided to jump down by breaking the window panes.
It was during this state of confusion that some people rushed in and rescued them, he added.
Tomba also severely criticized the Union Home Minister LK Advani blaming him for the ploy of extending the cease-fire to Manipur.
