Ahead of Nagaland polls State asked to check UG movement

Imphal, January 17 2013:
In view of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly election which is scheduled on February 23, the Election Commission of India has asked Government of India to take up necessary measures in order to check infiltration of UG cadres from Manipur into Nagaland.
The Election Commission made this intimation during a video conference this morning which was participated by Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath, Additional Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga who is currently Chief Secretary in-charge, DGP Y Joykumar, CEO O Nabakishore, Special Secretary (Home) AK Sinha, Joint CEO N Praveen and Assistant CEO K Bono.
The State officials were also asked to take up necessary security measures as polling personnel for 35 polling stations of Nagaland would go through Ukhrul district of Manipur.
The video conference was also attended by officials of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh apart from officials of Nagaland, Tripura and Meghalaya which are going to polls next month.
