Public hearing on District Boundary

Another round of hearing of the Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police District Boundary was held today in the office chamber of the Chief Secretary where two organisations put forth their opinions and views on the issue of district boundary re-organisation.
DGP Y Joykumar, Commissioner (Home) Binod Kishpota and Commissioner (Revenue) S Sunderlal were present at the public hearing where functionaries of Liangmai Naga Council, Senapati Zone and Eastern Tamei Area Chiefs' Association spelt out their positions on the issue.
The Liangmai Naga Council, Senapati Zone categorically stated that they were against creation of Sadar Hills district.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting secretary of the council Panamthinang said that they pointed out before the committee that creation of Sadar Hills as a full fledged district would be aggravate distrust and conflict among different communities.
The issue should be tackled in the most tactful manner.
On the other hand, the Eastern Tamei Area Chiefs Association endorsed the demand for creation of Sadar Hills district.
They also demanded amalgamation of the five Kuki villages of Eastern Tamei area in Tamenglong district in the proposed Sadar Hills district, conveyed the association's chairman SL Mangsat.
