Imphal, April 01 2016 :
The Directorate Complex located at North AOC which houses offices of several Government Departments has been damaged by the two earthquakes which rocked the State within this year.
Now employees working inside the offices feel insecure.
Notably, the complex houses offices of Social Welfare, CADA, Vigilance, Taxation, Town Planning etc.
It was the earthquake of January 4 measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale which severely damaged these offices.
On account of the earthquake, large cracks were created in many of these offices.
The complex was examined by an expert team of PWD and the team suggested a major repairing.
But the complex was again shaken by the earthquake of April 13 before any repairing was done which made its condition even more precarious, said an official.
A long line of crack can be seen on the posterior section of the directorate building.
Cracks are also seen on many other parts of the building.
"These cracks serve as a stark reminder of the perils under which the employees are working", the official said.
One top-ranking officer said that the tiles embossed with the word 'CADA' have become loose and large cracks have developed on the neighbouring which make all the employees highly insecure.
He then expressed keen desire for the Government to repair the building at the earliest.
Notably, the Ministers' Block of the Civil Secretariat is still denied access to public as well as officials after it was damaged by the January 4 earthquake.
