Imphal, September 13 2015:
Fresh landslides at Phesama, Nagaland has cut off Imphal-Dimapur highway once again.
There was heavy rainfall in Nagaland since this morning and this triggered fresh landslides at Phesama in late afternoon.
On account of the landslides, a portion of the highway has been covered by a thick layer of earth and mud.
Notably, the highway was cut off for weeks last month following massive landslides at the same area triggering shortage of many essential items.
Following the fresh landslides, around 100 vehicles travelling to different places from Imphal have been stranded.
The stranded vehicles include trucks, inter-State buses, taxis and private vehicles.
Passenger vehicles however could get through after the landslide was partly cleared late in the evening today.
Many Imphal-bound vehicles have also been stranded on the other side of the highway.
BRTF has been working to remove mud and earth brought down by the landslides.
It is speculated that passenger vehicles may be allowed to cross the landslide affected area tonight.
However, it is unlikely that loaded trucks would be allowed to cross the same area, said some stranded transporters.
