New Delhi, August 12:
Amidst the continuing tension in Manipur, moves are being made in the State Congress challenging the leadership of Chief Minis-jer O Ibobi Singh.
"A three-member delegation headed by former State Chief Minister and sitting Rajya Sabha member Rishang Keishing had an unscheduled meeting with Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil here this afternoon when they discussed the current situation in the State.
Keishing, who was accompanied by State Industries Minister Debendra Singh and another MP Dr T Meinya, refused to take any questions about the possibility of change of leadership in the State.
"We want the situation to improve and ensure that all anti-nationalist forces in the State defeated," he said.
To a question on the removal of the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Keishing said ".we want that the State should walk in all developmental activities with the rest of Nation.
You have a commit tee to decide whether this Act is required or not.
Let them decide".
However, sources in the delegation said the Home Minister was "cautioned" that eight MLAs of the ruling Congress were likely to resign on the issue of continuance of the stringent law while the five-member CP1 had decided to withdraw the support which reduce the party-led coalition Ministry to minority Government.
The delegation would also be meeting AICC leaders.
