CM designates 15th day as People's Day

In a first in the State towards making elected leaders and top bureaucrats easily accessible to the general public, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has declared that 15th day of every month would be set aside as Meeyamgi Numit (People's Day) .
He made the announcement while speaking as the chief guest at a reception function hosted by the women vendors of Khwai-ramband Keithel in his honour today at Khwai-ramband Keithel.
Biren stated that public would be allowed to meet the Chief Minister, Ministers, Commissioners, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and SPs to lodge their complaints and air their grievances on the 15th day of every month.

Conveying that a formal official order would be issued soon in this regard, N Biren claimed that his Government is fully committed to working tirelessly in the interest of the people of Manipur.
He said that ending UNC-sponsored economic bloc- kade, resolving Churachand-pur issue and revamping NH-37 were the three tasks which he had decided to do first soon after he was sworn-in as the Chief Minister.
Stating that the first round of talks with Churachandpur JAC ended on a positive note, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the impasse would be resolved within a few days.
Maintaining that repairing works on the Imphal-Jiribam highway had begun gaining pace, N Biren informed that he would personally inspect the condition of the road and work progress soon.
Regarding the problems of vending space, pollution and traffic congestion in Imphal city, the Chief Minister said that the State now has a competent and dynamic MAHUD Minister and all the problems would be sorted out soon by chalking out a long-term plan.
Every hill district headquarters would now have a women's market each.
The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already sanctioned funds for the said project, he added.
Taking serious note of question leakage of Physics subject in Class XII examinations conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM), Biren asserted that an independent body would probe the matter and his Government would not spare those who are involved in the mess.
The function was also attended by Works Minister Th Biswajit as the president and MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar, Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Soram Sunil and senior woman vendor Ch Ibemnungshi as the guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Th Shyamkumar urged the women vendors and public to extend cooperation and give some time to the State Government in making Imphal city and Ima Keithel neat and tidy.
In his speech, Th Biswajit assured the women vendors that the repairing works of Ima Keithel No 2 and 3 would be completed before September this year.
He also promised to complete construction of market shed at erstwhile Tombisana High School complex at the earliest.
