Imphal, April 07 2009:
Decrying monetary demand from various UG groups from private schools recognised by the Government, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association has warned of taking recourse to various intense agitations if the UG groups do not withdraw their demands and stop intimidating the authorities of the private schools.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Association Advisor L Tomba asserted that All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association has been contributing its mite to the cause of promoting quality education in the State.
The Association has also been extending its support to the agitation being launched by various organisations for the cause of making education a free zone.
Inspite of that private schools are being subjected to monetary demand and threat from various UG groups, Tomba lamented, adding that if such undue demands and threats were not withdrawn, the Association may be constraint to launch various agitations.
Detailing on the proposed agitations to be launched by the Association, its secretary Rajbihari Chongtham explained that initially the students and teachers would be wearing black badges while attending classes and Wakat Meepham would be staged by the students and teachers of the affected school by cancelling off the last two periods.
If nothing comes out even after the initial agitation, then all the schools in the State would declare half holiday for five consecutive days to express resentment against the monetary demand of the UG groups from educational institutions.
Afterward, all the classes would be cancelled for two days, he informed.
Over and above these agitations, memorandum would also be submitted to the CM for ensuring the security of the educational institutions, Rajbihari said, adding that even the monetary demands are not withdrawn even after all these agitations, then the Association may impose State wide bandh and even cancel all the classes for one complete month.
