HC to hear petitions against Speaker

A Division Bench of the High Court of Manipur will hear 13 cases including disqualification cases filed against three Congress MLAs.
The Court will also hear pleas of MLAs who were recently disqualified by the Speaker's Tribunal of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The Division Bench comprising of Justice Lanusungkum Jamir and Justice Ahanthem Bimol will hear the cases.
The petitions against the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker were filed by ex-MLA Thanga AC Tongbram Robindro, ex-MLA Lamlai AC Kshetrimayum Biren, ex-MLA Kakching AC Yengkhom Surchandra and ex-MLA Kumbi AC Sanasam Bira who were recently disqualified.
It may be noted that lone AITC MLA Thongbram Robindro (Thanga AC) and the three Congress MLAs-Sanasam Bira, Yengkhom Surchandra and Ksh Biren were disqualified by the Speaker's Tribunal on June 18 hours before the Rajya Shaba election.
Meanwhile, the MLAs facing disqualification cases under the anti-defection law are O Lukhoi (Wangoi AC), Ginsuanhau (Singngat AC) and Ngamthang Haokip (Saitu AC) .
The cases against them were filed by Congress MLAs Keisham Meghachandra, Surjakumar Okram and K Ranjit.
The 13 cases also include a writ petition filed by ex-MLA Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC against two persons.
