Imphal, January 05 2013 :
All Tribal students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has condemned in the strongest term the brutal killing of Laishram Ibohanbi at Hatta village near Finch Corner in Ukhrul district.
"ATSUM demands fast and swift investigation on the murder by the concerned authorities and book the culprits at the earliest.
The ATSUM fails to understand as to why killings, kidnapping and other crimes continue unabated under the present state government," ATSUM president Muan Tombing expressed.
Tombing said the Union, will be ready to carry out any form of necessary action if the state government continues to remain a mute spectator to such frequent crimes in the state.
Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal (TKLI) vehemently condemned the murder of Laishram Ibohanbi, a police constable of Imphal East police station, who went missing since December 29 while returning home from Ukhrul district.
In a statement signed by its general secretary, Ninglum KS, the TKLI said such evil design would not be tolerated.
Questioning the motive of such inhuman act, the TKLI termed the incident as an evil act trying to create more division in the society which is most unwelcome while appealing all concerned to condemn such act.
At the same time, the TKLI rejected outright the alleged involvement of two students as accused by the JAC concerned.
Saying that the allegation was baseless, the TKLI statement added that the JAC should have great restraint and innocent people should not be dragged into the matter.
Calling upon all organisations concerned to identify the inimical elements that plagued the State thus far, it urged all concerned to use great restraint and wisdom to cross the hurdle of narrow communal outlook, fanatic ideologies and short-sighted politics that have been coming down heavily on mankind in the State.
It added that rationalism and humanity have a lot to do in maintaining harmonious relationship among various communities.
