Imphal, December 04 2016:
Members of the Association of Premiere State College Seniors (APSC) have strongly condemned the burning of its office at DM College by unknown miscreants.
Speaking before media persons at the assn office, APSC general secretary Dr AK Chisti said, " There are around 50 members in the association , most of whom are retired college teachers.
It has been operational for the past 10 years inside DMC campus and the association has always participated at various issues of the State." Decrying the alleged arson, he said that APSC was established legally inside the campus for the senior teachers.
He said that setting fire to the office was a cowardly act and asked whoever were responsible to express their motive directly if they are discontent with the activities of the senior college teachers.
Dr Chisti said, " The teachers meet here every Saturday at around 3.30 pm to discuss various issues and topics.
Yesterday also, the teachers came for the meet and they came to know of the fire only when they had reached home after the meeting finished" .
He pointed out that an FIR had been lodged at Imphal police station and alleged that the office seemed to have been set on fire intentionally.
"The office that the senior teachers built up over the years has been completely destroyed and they will not be able to bring it to its former glory again", he added.
