New Delhi, August 03:
NDA Convenor George Fernandes today said the alliance was against scrapping of a law giving special powers to armed forces in Manipur saying such a step would create more problem, but the alliance would accept whatever the decision Government takes in this regard.
"It (withdrawal) could create more problems," he told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Home Minister Shivraj Patil was also present during the 45-minute meeting Fernandes had with the Prime Minister.
He said the meeting was specifically on the grave situation for which a solution was a must.
Asked whether they discussed the scraping of the Act, he said no Government in the past had agreed on this as it would be difficult for the army to function smoothly in the absence of the Act.
