Paona Keithel, Thangal Keithel set to reopen

The Committee on Bazar Business Community of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar has suspended its indefinite market shut down agitation.
As such, all shops in Paona and Thangal bazar will reopen from tomorrow.
However, the Committee has set March 8 as the deadline to the State Government to comply with its demands.
Addressing media persons today at Thangal bazar, convener of Committee on Bazar Business Community of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar, H Badankumar stated that the Committee launched the indefinite shut down agitation to protest the State Cabinet's decision to prohibit parking of vehicles at these areas.
He added that the statement of Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar in the ongoing State Assembly is welcomed as the decision to prohibit parking of vehicles in Paona and Thangal bazar will be discussed further in a State Cabinet meeting.
Further, he said that the Committee on Bazar Business Community of Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar has set March 8 as the deadline for the State Government to comply with the demands made by them.
The decision of the State Government to allow parking in MPP office area, Wahengbam Leikai, State museum area and Nagamapal is not acceptable.
The police should be held responsible for allowing double parking on both Paona and Thangal bazar but not the shopkeepers, he added.
It is unfortunate that the public is suffering due to the stir, he claimed.
Meanwhile, business activities came to a halt for the second day at Paona and Thangal bazar today due to the shut down call.
Movement of vehicles in the areas were not affected though.
