Jiribam, October 02 2011:
In accordance with an order issued by the State Government, staff of CAF &PD Jiribam and Weight and Measures Department, Jiribam have started weighing loaded trucks coming from outside the State at Jiribam since September 28 .
Acting on the State Government's order, Additional Deputy Commissioner issued an order on September 27 following which a weigh-in check post was opened at Jiribam.
As per instructions, the check post located at the foot of Jiribam bridge allows trucks having 10 wheels to carry 24 tonnes (inclusive of the truck's weight) while trucks having six wheels are allowed to carry 15 metric tonnes (inclusive of the vehicle's weight) .

In case, any of the trucks were found carrying loads heavier than the specified loads, the transporters were made to off-load the additional loads at the weigh-in post.
At present, the weigh-in is being done at the FCI weight bridge.
These measures were taken up by the Government in view of the pathetic condition of Imphal-Jiribam highway and worn out conditions of Makru, Barak and Irang bridges.
