Imphal, July 01 2020:
Cancer patients are facing a hard time as they have not been able to get treatment at RIMS as a COVID Care Centre has been set up at the Radiotherapy Department.
Cancer patients speaking to reporters shared their grievances saying they have been waiting for one to three months time for Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy treatment and have still not been able to get the treatment.
Due to a machine malfunction in May, the treatment was stopped.
But when it was repaired, COVID patients were lodged at the Radiotherapy Department.

Ningthoujam Usharani (52), a cancer patient from Moirang, said "everyone knows what cancer is.
We are trying to extend our time a little bit more by getting treated on time.
"How can we go near to COVID patients with our weak immune system? Is there no other place to treat COVID patients besides the Department of Radiotherapy.
"I have to come here twice every week hiring a private vehicle just to enquire when the treatment will start" .
Another cancer patient, M Bina (54) of Awang Sekmai, said she has been waiting for radiotherapy after operation.
She said due to the lockdown, she is facing lots of inconveniences coming to the hospital and added that she even tried her best to meet the Director regarding her grievances, however she was denied permission.
"Don't they consider cancer patients as humans," she questioned.
H Asharani (37), a cancer patient from Lairikyengbam Leikai in Imphal East, said her doctor told her that Radiotherapy is a very important treatment for cancer.
She said cancer patients come from every corner of the State to RIMS for treatment everyday.
She even claims to have seen 40 patients getting radiotherapy in RIMS in a day earlier before the department was turned into a Covid Care Centre.
"The queue is getting longer day by day.
Some doctors have even advised us to go outside the State.
But how can we go in this situation," she added.
