CM inaugurates RIMS trauma care centre

Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated a Level - I Trauma Care Centre at RIMS through video conference from the Chief Minister's Secretariat today.
Speaking at the function, the Chief Minister stated that the primary objective of such dedicated Trauma Centre is to bring down pre- ventable deaths due to road accidents in the State.
He appreciated the RIMS authorities and doctors for developing such Trauma Care Centre in the State.
He mentioned that the Trauma Centre would have ICU beds, HCU beds, trolley beds, operation theatres, CT-Scan machines, dialysis unit etc.
"We have highly qualified and experienced doc- tors and healthcare workers as compared to other States", Biren said.
Saying that the Government acknowledges the selfless services rendered by doctors, nurses and paramedical staff during this pandemic, he expressed hope that the State would overcome the pandemic with such dedicated services of the healthcare workers.
He further emphasized that public awareness campaign would play an important role in combating the disease.
Speaking on the occasion, RIMS Director Prof A Santa said that the number of ICU beds have been increased to 30 and more than 20 ventilators have been installed with a back-up of another 30 ventilators in the Trauma Care Centre.
Two operation theatres are available with two mobile X-Ray machines, he added.
He appreciated the Chief Minister and the Government for the support and co-operation in developing such Trauma Centre at RIMS.
It may be mentioned that the Trauma Care Centre was constructed by Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) at an estimated cost of Rs 11.34 crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The Trauma Centre was constructed under Capacity Building for Developing Trauma Care Facilities on National Highways.
Chairman of Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) Vungzagin Valte, Principal Secretary (Health) V Vumlunmang, Secretary to Chief Minister N Geoffrey, Medical Superintendent (RIMS) Prof Ch Arunkumar, staff of RIMS and others were present at the function.
