10 shops in Singjamei gutted

Imphal, January 30, 2012:
At least 10 shops in Singjamei market have been burnt to ashes as fire broke out at around 9:30 pm today.
The shops which went up in flames are located in the northern part of Singjamei Super Market at Singjamei ChongthamLeikai.
As soon as the news of the fire reached the Imphal Fire Service, fire tender came to the spot in no time, but the fire tenders could not save the shops from the blazing fireas the shops were made of wood.
It took around one hour for the fire tenders to completely put out the fire.
But unfortunately, by the time the fire was put out, almost all parts of the shops have already turned to ashes.
Almost all the shops belonged to one Kakchingtabam Kumar of Singjamei Chongtham Leikai while two others to one Chongtham Mikhubi.
The owners rented out the shops to different shopkeepers.
The shops were of groceries items, mobile repairing, computer Xerox centre, cycle shops, and kids centre shops.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be not known.
