International bamboo conference ends

A five-day long International Bamboo Conference cum Workshop 2015 concluded today.
The valedictory function was attended by Professor H Tombi, Chairman of Governing Body, Oriental College, Oriental College Principal Dr Th Biren and Salai Holdings Private Limited Executive Vice-president E Brojendro as the chief guest, president and guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Prof H Tombi said that bamboo plantation should be encouraged as part of conserving the ecological balance.
Th Biren stated that bamboo varieties plantation should be initiated across the State as bamboo variety of bamboo species are on the verge of extinction.
Apart from contributing towards conserving the forests, bamboo plants have serve as a means of livelihood for many people.
The conference cum workshop was participated by delegates from Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and Australia.
