State on record breaking spree with 847 new cases, 10 deaths

The state is witnessing an uphill trend of the second wave of Covid-19 with daily positivity rate continuing to scale new heights in the last few days.
Maintaining the trend, Wednesday reported a record single day spike of 847 new cases and 10 fatalities.
Consequently, the caseload has reached 7243 with the addition of 847 new cases on Wednesday.
Of the total active cases, 4789 are in home isolation and the remaining 2454 undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including Covid Care Centres.
Cumulative fatality count has reached 730.The 10 fatalities reported on Wednesday included a 68-year old male (IE), a 65-year old male (Kpi), a 58-year old female (IW), a 73-year old male (BPR), a 69-year old male (IW), a 72-year old male (IE), a 55-year old male (IE), a 50-year old female (IW), an 80-year old male (lE) and a 55-year old female (lW) who died at Shija Hospitals (1), Raj Medicity (1), JNIMS (5) and RIMS (3) hospital respectively.
The last seven days has seen 5033 new cases and 95 fatalities while 14,712 new cases and 325 fatalities were added during the current month.
On the other hand, 18,110 positive cases and 375 fatalities were reported since the beginning of the current year.
According to official bulletins, the 847 new cases include 825 persons (414 male & 411 female) from among the general population and 22 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (10), JNIMS (164), District Hospitals (336) and other private testing centres (337).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (146), Imphal West (301), Thoubal (37), Bishnupur (56), Kakching (50), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (23), Chandel (1), Senapati (147), Tamenglong (21), Tengnoupal (4), Kangpokpi (6), Jiribam (14), Kamjong (4), Noney (2) and Pherzawl (8).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 379 persons were discharged from CAPF (4), home isolation (303), RIMS (5), JNIMS (2), BB (4), NSU (1), SHRl (20), RD Wing (2), Babina Speciality Hospital (4), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (29), Jivan Hospital (1) and Thoubal (4).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 46,298 (general population - 42,549 and CAPF personnel - 3,749).Number of recovered cases is 38,325 (general population - 34,689 and CAPF personnel - 3,636) and number of active cases is 7,243 (general population - 7,135 and CAPF personnel - 108).The recovery rate is 82.78 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1539 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 542 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities.
District Hospital and government institutions have 188D, 53B, and the district-wise allocation figure is Bishnupur (28D,0B), Chandel (17D,4B), Churachandpur (36D,2B), Senapati (19D,0B), Thoubal (35D,13B), Ukhrul (7D,0B), Tamenglong (5D, 0B), Jiribam (20D,11B), Moreh (5D,6B), Mao (4D,6B), Kangpokpi (5D,1B), Kakching (0D,3B), Pherzawl (4D,5B) and Kamjong (3D,0B).So far, 3,55,793 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 with 79,897 already jabbed with the second dose, CCR report said.
In Kakching district, 52 new positive cases were detected during RAT conducted on Wednesday.
Out of them, 41 were detected at government RAT Centre, 10 at Jivan Hospital and one at Ema Hospital.
Three of them are from Thoubal district and the remaining 49 are Kakching residents.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (16,715), Imphal East (10,697), Thoubal (3329), Churachandpur (3196), Kangpokpi (1400), Tamenglong (1700), Bishnupur (2460), Senapati (1135), Ukhrul (1078), Kakching (1919), Chandel (839), Noney (499), Tengnoupal (486), Jiribam (413), Kamjong (376), and Pherzawl (56).Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (283), Imphal East (189), Thoubal (72), Churachandpur (54), Kangpokpi (20), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (48), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (26), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 14,920 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,649 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,23,294 tests per million population against the national average of 2,40,498 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 4075 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 20.79 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.68 per cent.
