Imphal, April 24 2018:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) organised a sit in protest in front of MPSC office today, against the selection of a non-local, who does not meet the criteria, as a Government College Principal and has demanded the State to revoke its decision at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons on the spot, KSA president Ningthoujam Chetan explained that MPSC issued a notification for the selection of 25 Government College Principals on July 23 last year and 14 Principals were eventually selected.
However, one of the selected candidates, Gopal Chandra Bag, is a tenant staying at Paona Bazaar and his Higher Education ID card mentions his address as Howrah, West Bengal, he said and asked how the authority concerned came up with the idea of selecting an individual who is not a permanent resident of the State.
While procuring Permanent Resident Certificate, land patta, Aadhaar card, electoral ID etc are required but how did Gopal Chandra Bag, who did not possess the said documents, get the Permanent Resident Certificate, Chetan asked.
Condemning the negligence of the MPSC during the screening process which resulted in the said individual becoming eligible for the selection, the KSA president demanded the State Government to replace the Chairman and Secretary of MPSC at the earliest.
He also demanded the authority concerned to take up proper disciplinary actions against the SDO and SDC concerned allegedly involved in providing the Permanent Residential Certificate to the individual.
He also expressed disappointment at the posting of the non local as the Principal of Ng College although KSA Ng College Unit strongly opposed the idea.
KSA will continue its protest until and unless the Government removes the Principal, he added.
