SHEDA helps poor and needy through its Mediclaim scheme

A registered non-governmental organization called Self Help Development Agency (SHEDA) from Kangpokpi DHQs displayed an exemplary public service by introducing a Mediclaim scheme apart from its various other activities helping the poor and needy people of the district.
SHEDA recently introduced Mediclaim Scheme with an aim to help people during emergency on health related issue.
Lhingminhoi Munlun, daughter of Sehlam Manlun of Chalwa village in Kangpokpi had recently enrolled herself under the Mediclaim Scheme on December 2018 with Rs 1,000 and claimed benefit of Rs 10,000 after three months of joining the scheme when she got hospitalized and underwent a surgery in hospital at Imphal.
SHEDA quickly responded to her claim of benefits and hand over Rs 10,000 to her father this morning at its Head Office at Jingvalpa Office, Kangpokpi DHQs.
The health benefit was hand over by Robert Hekai Kipgen, Chairman of SHEDA.
SHEDA was established in 2012 .
Various other services provided by SHEDA include saving scheme such as weekly, monthly and D2D saving scheme, emergency fund, Khankho Lom, offers sales and installment, Stationery and Book store, Valpa Tours and Travels, Offset and flex printing in marginal rate apart from the Mediclaim scheme.
Speaking to media persons, the first beneficiary of SHEDA Mediclaim Lhingminhoi Manlun father said: "Poor and needy people like us usually come across severe financial problems when it comes to health issues while some even sold their land and properties in emergency for treatment.
My daughter told me about SHEDA Mediclaim scheme after she enrolled herself with Rs 1,000 last year.
I am very happy that it (SHEDA) has provided the benefit of Rs 10,000 as per the scheme condition when she got hospitalized".
SHEDA chairman, Robert Hekai Kipgen said that he is a victim of the alleged 1993 Kuki Genocide 'perpetuated by the NSCN-IM' and faced almost all hardships in every aspects of life which always make him think of helping others - poor and needy people.
This is how SHEDA was established, said Robert.
He said that any willing poor and needy person can enrol under the scheme with Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 300, Rs 400, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 .
The scheme will provide them with nine times the amount after three months of enrolment only in case of hospitalization while adding that he consider this as the best way to reach out poor and needy people.
