Dr Ashwani strikes the right chord with DLOs

Governor of Manipur and Nagaland Dr Ashwani Kumar today visited Senapati district headquarter, 60 km north of Imphal, to oversee the various development works being undertaken by the district administration.
Besides interacting with the district officials, the Governor, who was accompanied by the first lady, also personally visited to inspect Senapati district hospital and Manipur North Economic Development Association (Maneda), an NGO-run day care cum shelter workshop for persons with disabilities.
According to Menada, Senapati district alone has as many as 800 persons with disabilities as per their own survey conducted in three blocks of the district.
Though he was impressed with the activities which are being taken up at the Maneda centre, Governor Ashwani, however, looked disappointed when he saw the condition of the district hospital, and expressed his desire to all concerned for making necessary arrangement for providing necessary water and power supply to the hospital prior to his next October 28 visit to the district if possible.
"Please make sure things are in order.
I will be returning here on October 28 (on way to Imphal) to attend Kut festival on November 1," the Governor said, while interacting with the districts level officials at the DRDA conference of the district headquarter.
Responding to Governor's move, Executive Engineer S Dembeshwar of the state Electricity Department posted at Senapati district promised that they'll try to give power connection to the district hospital within 10 days time.
Sharing a similar sentiment, Executive Engineer N Bipin of PHE department also assured that they would try to provide (10,000 litre capacity two water tankers daily as an alternative means while the department is taking the required permanent water supply scheme for the hospital.
During the interaction, the Governor said that he wanted to know the problems of the concerned district officials along with their possible solutions.
Encouraged by such gesture, officials of PHE, Electricity, Agriculture, horticulture, Education departments, autonomous district council and concerned SDOs shared their comment on the various developmental activities which are being taken up in the district.
Later, visiting Maneda run day care centre, the Governor donated some cash incentive to the functionary of the centre as token of appreciation.
Governor's visit at Senapati is second such visit to hill district of the state after his recent Ukhrul district.
The Governor left for Kohima from Senapati later in the afternoon.
