DM Community College participating in 5th Task Force Meet

The 5th Task Force Meet of Star scheme kicked off at Pondicherry University, Puducherry today with review presentations from coordinators of Star Colleges from across the country, said a press release issued by Nodal Officer, D M Community College, Imphal.
Out of 88 such Colleges selected for the prestigious Star scheme under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI, some colleges are from the North East region namely the St Edmund College, Shillong, Dhanamanjuri Community College, Imphal and six other Colleges from Assam.
Dhanamanjuri Community College, established in 2014 with only two trades in the skill sector became a centre for DDU Kaushal from 2015-16 with B Voc Degree programmes in Radio Imaging Technology, Medical Lab Technology, Food Technology and Digital Multimedia Technology.
The College has been approved for the Star College Scheme from 2018-19 onwards with a financial allocation of Rs 82 lakh for strengthening the four existing Departments.
The College is the only Centre for the Skill Based Vocational Programmes in the higher education which is being selected for the Department of Biotechnology's (DBT) support under the Star College scheme.
Based on the performance during the three years period of "strengthening of support", the scheme would be extended for the next three years with the award of the Prestigious Star Status.
Advanced ECG, Computed Radiography, Tissue Processing, Distillation Plant are the additional job roles which are introduced newly under the Star College Scheme.
Indigenous food processing, bakery and allied food processing are some of the job roles introduced for Food Processing, Photography & Animation, Mobile App & Networking are the additional practical in Digital Multimedia Technology which are introduced under the Star College Scheme.
The three-day long review meeting will be concluded on April 20 with the screening of a short documentary film produced by media division of DM Community College.
