Making the above statement to media persons at Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Ltd head office in Uripok Tourangbam Leikai today, Chairman of the company as well as Managing Director Thokchom Hemo continued that the company has been facilitating subsidised home loans to the public following the inking of three MoUs between the Central Government and the company under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (PMAY-CLSS), Housing for All 2022 Mission, which was launched by Prime Minister Modi in August 2015.The subsidised home loan with Rs 2.67 lakh subsidy is given for urban areas while the same loan is given with Rs 38,000 as the subsidy for rural areas, he informed.
Hemo said that the quantum of loan depends on certain factors like household, income etc while adding that the income for each household in rural areas should be Rs 18,000 and Rs 21,000 income for urban areas.
Any individual who clears the criteria can apply for the home loan, he added.
Hemo urged all the people of the State to avail the loan under the PMAY-CLSS and convert the Kaccha houses in both rural and urban areas into Pucca houses.
Such subsidised home loans have been offered to urban areas before but the opportunity has been recently introduced to rural areas.
The Chairman further stated that residents of places covered under the Municipality areas including Uripok, Thangmeiband, Nongmeibung, Keishampat, Bishnupur, Oinam, Ningthoukhong, Moirang, Kwakta, Kumbi, Thoubal, Heirok, Wangjing, Sikhong Sekmai, Yairipok, Sugnu, Kakching Khunou, Kakching etc can avail the loan.

However, after deducting the subsidised portion/rate of the Central Government (Rs 6.50 percent per annum), the loan can be availed at the interest rate of 7 percent per annum, he noted.
Hemo claimed that the 7 percent per annum interest rate given by the company is the most nominal rate in the State as most of the banks present in Manipur does not offer subsidised home loan to the public.
