Imphal, June 15 2014:
Believe it or not! The house of the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and his wife O Landhoni, MLA of Khangabok A/C at Thoubal Athokpam, which remained guarded round the clock by heavily armed personnel of 3 IRB, was burgled by some unidentified intruders who decamped with gold ornaments and other costly household items.
The stunning incident came to light when Landhoni reached the house after attending a felicitation function held for awarding meritorious students at Thoubal Athokpam around 2 pm today.
She found windows and almirahs broke open and household goods and scattered around on the floor.

The Chief Minister, his son and daughter-in-law were staying at the CM's Bungalow at Babupara here when the incident took place.
Surprised at the development, Landhoni immediately informed her husband over the phone.
Shortly after the news was passed on, a team of Thoubal district police led by its SP Koijam Radheshyam came to conduct a spot inquiry.
On hearing the news, a staff reporter of Hueiyen Lanpao was also sent to the area to cull more information but was denied entry by the police.
The reporter also faced constraints while trying to take the photo of the house.
According to report, the house of Okram Ibotomba, a younger brother of Chief Minister O Ibobi happened to be situated just adjacent to the CM's house.
Both the houses share a common premise.
Taking into account of the bomb attacks carried out in the past and the volatile law & order situation, heavily armed personnel of 3 IRB have been guarding the two houses round the clock.
However, the personnel stayed at the house of O Ibotomba.
It is suspected that the intruders might have entered the house of the Chief Minister from the back door and them came up to the first floor of the building and sneaked into the room of the CM after breaking the window.
There is high possibility that the IRB personnel were unaware of the act as there is no sentry post at the backside of the house, the reports said.
Police, on the other hand, are tight lipped about the incident thought the news of intruding into the house and subsequent looting of gold and accessories was confirmed.
The exact quantity and value of the stolen gold and accessories could be not be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
Later on, a high official team of police including DGP Saheed Ahmed, Clay Khongsai, IG (L O-1), Dr Soibam Ibocha, DIG (Range 4) conducted spot verification apart from Forensic Experts of Manipur Police who took photos of footprints and fingerprints on the objects believed to have touched by the intruders.
An investigation in connection with the case has been already started.
Taking serious note over the lapses on part of the 3 IRB personnel manning the CM house, a new team of security personnel has already replaced the earlier one, the reports added.
