Dy CM visits Noney inferno site

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today visited the victims of the disastrous inferno which destroyed around 50 houses and shops at Noney Bazar on April 8 .
Gaikhangam also inspected the areas where the inferno razed several shops and houses to the ground.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Tamei AC MLA Kikonbou Newmai, Tamenglong AC MLA Janghemlung Panmei, Tamenglong ADC Chairman Sohem Haomei, Relief and Disaster Management Principal Secretary Suhail Akhtar and Tamenglong DC W Arthur.
Addressing a gathering at Noney Bazar, Gaikhangam announced that plans are afoot to open fire sub-stations at Noney, Yairipok and Saikul.
He stated that the devastating effects of the Noney inferno would be studied together with the Chief Minister so that relief measures can be extended to the victims.

Assuring that the State Government would extend all possible assistance, Gaikhangam also appealed to all the people irrespective of hills and valley to contribute to the relief fund.
Gaikhangam donated Rs one lakh to the relief fund in addition to 100 quintals of rice, dal, potatoes and utensils.
After the private company has donated Rs one lakh to the relief fund, Tamenglong and Tamei MLAs contributed Rs 50,000 each to the relief fund.
Taking due note of the unavailability of electricity at Noney Bazar as many wires were burnt in the inferno, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed relevant officials to replace the burnt down wires and ensure that electricity is available at Noney Bazar at the earliest.
