Relief given to victims of Silent village attack

Imphal, May 05 2013:
Even as Silent village is limping back to normalcy, representatives of United Committee Manipur (UCM), ACOAM-Lup, ICHAM and MLA of Chingai A/C Preshow Shimray today went to the village where 36 houses were burnt down by a mob from the neighbouring village of Seijang following a land dispute on May 3 last and provided relief materials to the affected villagers.
Sharing the grief and sorrow of the victims, MLA Preshow Shimray stated that incident of burning down 36 houses of Silent village was very unfortunate and whole Manipur condemns the incident in the strongest term.
While appealing to the villagers to maintain peace and harmony and not to think of taking revenge, he also assured that the State Government would help the victims in every possible manner.
From his side, MLA Preshow Shimray gave away Rs 30,000 to the victims.
From the side of ICHAM team, which was led by its President N Boy, 30 bags of rice and dal, 30 blankets, one bag of salt along with four tents were provided to the victims.
The UCM team, which was led by its Vice President Chandramani Khumancha also provided relief materials including edible oils, 15 bags of rice, 5 bags of potatoes, two bags of onions, 2 bags of dal, etc.
UCM also promised to provide more relief materials.
Lastly, from the side of ACOAM Lup, 8 bags of rice, one bag each of dal and salt and two bags of potatoes were provided to the people whose houses have been burnt down.
