Kpi police seizes liquor

In its continuous surprised raid on shops selling liquor in the District Headquarters, Kangpokpi police seized different varieties of liquor worth Rs 16,950 this afternoon.
A team of Kangpokpi Police led by Emmanuel Fimate, MPS, Addl SP (Ops) has conducted a surprised raid this afternoon at around 4 pm in downtown IT Road, Kangpokpi DHQs and seized huge quantity of different varieties of liquors from two pan shop and goods store.
The police team seized 31 bottles of Can Beers, 3 bottles of Whisky, 7 bottles of Rum, 3 bottles of Grape juice and 98 Kgs of local made DIC while the estimated value of the seized liquor is Rs 16,950, said police source.
It also said that the seized liquors were seized from two pan shops and a goods store namely Barun Pan Shop, Ambika Pan Shop and Prakash Store in downtown IT Road, Kangpokpi DHQs.
It is interesting to note that as to how the owner of the Pan Shops whose business licence has been issued by concerned authority for the purposes of selling pan and goods could openly sell ban liquors.
Among the owner of the shops, one lady with her two sons confronted the police team when they tried to raid their shop.
The police team following the unexpected intense confrontation from the shop owner and her sons arrested the trio and put them behind the bar.
FIR is likely to be lodged upon them for illegal sale of ban liquors and for confronting the police team.
Till filing of this report, the mother and two sons were put in a lock up at Kangpokpi Police Station.
