Cabinet approves a host of recruitments

A meeting of the state Cabinet held today evening has recommended filling up of 319 posts which are lying vacant subsequent to retirement of Government teachers working in Aided Higher Secondary and Elementary Schools.
Briefing mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting, spokesperson of the SPF government Minister N Biren pointed out that out of 319 vacant posts, 138 are for Aided Secondary Schools, 172 for Elementary Schools and the remaining 9 are for the posts of LDCs.
These schools are located in hills as well as valley.
The spokesperson informed that today's Cabinet meeting has also given its approval to recruitment of 44 Section Officers (SOs) under Public Works Department.
In addition to this, the Cabinet has also given its recommendation to recruitment of 400 ANMs under Health Services.
Out of the 400 posts, 200 would be on contract basis.
The Minister further informed that of the six escort personnel who lost their lives in the ambush laid by NSCN (IM) on MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing, while he was alive, today's Cabinet meeting approved offering one govt job to each of the three families of the slain personnel.
Similar, the Cabinet has given its nod to job offer to each of the 18 persons who lost their lives in the June 18, 2001 incident.
In accordance to the decision, the posts of Graduate teachers would be given to 12 families while the remaining six families would be given job in the Transport Department.
Among other recommendations, today's Cabinet meeting has also approved opening of nine Commando units in all the existing nine districts, upgradation of various Nagar Panchayats to the status of Municipal Council.
Among the many other decision taken today in the meeting , the Cabinet has given its approval to affiliation of Rayburn College, Churachandpur under CBSE, and giving compensation for all the vehicles which have been burnt down during the ongoing economic blockade.
Accordingly, the Transport Department has been instructed to submit a report on the number of vehicles and their types for finalizing the amount of the compensation to be paid by the next Cabinet meeting, Minister Biren added.
